Use Final Cut Pro for Film Color Grading and Editing

Basic Operations in Final Cut Pro: Keyboard Shortcuts and Common Filter Effects

What audiences feel while watching a finished film is usually quite different from an editor’s experience during post-production. Editors therefore need a special knack for seeing things from the audience’s POV. They have to imagine all the ways an audience might react to the current frame, knowing viewers don’t have the full story or complete recollection of how the film came together - you need to cover all the possibilities of the feelings triggered by your footage.

Where Can the Marterials Be Sourced From?

Video editing is a post-production work in essence, so there are limited things we can do on the raw footage. However, its upper limit is flexible, which depends on how we gather additional materials to polish the raw footage.

Here are a few sources I recommend, the order does not represent any ranking, but unmarked items within it may need payment:

  • MotionVFX: mostly vfx elements, but cinematic quality
  • MotionArray: everything here, templates, sound effects, luts, etc.
  • FootageCrate: available for commercial use
  • LookAE: good but some are pirated
